High Index Lenses

People who have strong prescription glasses is familiar with this problem: The higher the prescription, the thicker and heavier the required lenses. Not only does it create aesthetic problems, the glasses can be uncomfortable due to its weight.

With Clarium High Index lenses you can have both better vision and great look, thanks to their thin and lightweight construction.

Here are the main benefits of high index lenses:

  1. Thinner: They are able to bend light more efficiently, therefore they have thinner edges than lenses with the same prescription power that are made of conventional plastic material.

  2. Lighter: Thinner edges require less lens material, which reduces the overall weight of the lenses. Making it more comfortable to wear.

  3. Many options: There is a wide variety of thin, lightweight high-index eyeglass lenses, based on how efficiently they bend light and what the wearer needs. This gives a lot of options in terms of cost, as some people won’t need the thinnest lens for their glasses.

High-index plastic lenses are available in a wide variety of refractive indices, typically ranging from 1.50 to 1.74. Lenses with 1.70 index or higher typically are at least 50 percent thinner than conventional plastic lenses. The higher the refractive index, the thinner the lens.
